Dear Mr Johansen


I acknowledge the receipt of your complaint dated 27th June. I have investigated the matter and discovered the following:
  • The boat is privately owned and is not used for official business as suggested by use of the letter-head.
  • Your boat has been purchased as pre-used from a dealer and was previously a demo boat. If there is any specific fault on the engine please discuss the matter with the dealer from whom you purchased the boat. The dealer would normally offer service and support in the first instance.
  • The season in Greenland is very short and as a consequence all activities are concentrated into a short period of time. All marine engineers are hyper-active, working long hours to keep engines running and boat afloat.
  • This year in addition to normal summer activities there is also extra celebration of 1000 years of Viking settlement in Greenland. This has also attracted extra boats into the area.
  • The local Yanmar dealer is working flat-out to get all the work done on a "first-come, first served basis". Unfortunately Nuuk is not a large city nor a well-known sailing center like Copenhagen, Kiel Fjord, Germany, or Cowes in the Solent, U.K. and there is a limit on the number of trained engineers in the area.
  • My understanding is that there are other workshops in the area who can also possibly help you.

Please have a little understanding of the situation in high season. It would also be polite to restrain your secretary from continuously telephoning. Please visit Grønlands Bådcenter yourself and discuss person to person what you would like them to carry out. I am sure a solution can be worked out.
